Premarket trading runs from 4:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time, before the regular US session opens. Big premarket moves usually follow overnight news: earnings released the prior evening, analyst rating changes, economic data, or events in overseas markets. Liquidity is limited, so premarket prices can gap and reverse at the open.
